 When is the Philippine nurse licensure examination conducted?
The licensure examination for the practice of nursing in the Philippines shall by given by the Board not earlier than one (1) month but not later than two (2) months after the closing of the semester prescribed by the Department of Education. The examination shall be held in the City of Manila or in such places as may be decided by the Board subject to the approval of the Professional Regulation Commission. Source: www.prc.gov.ph

What is the scope of the Philippine nurse licensure examination?
The scope of the examination for the practice of nursing in the Philippines shall be determined by the Board. The Board shall take into consideration the objectives of the nursing curriculum, the broad areas of nursing, and other related disciplines and competencies in determining the subjects of examinations.

What are the venues where the Philippine nurse licensure examination is conducted?
The Nurse Licensure Examination given by the Board of Nursing is conducted in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga.

How will a candidate successfully pass the Philippine nurse licensure examination?
In order to pass the examination, an examinee must obtain a general average rating of at least seventy-five percent (75%) with a rating of not below sixty percent (60%) in any subject. An examinee who obtains an average rating of seventy-five percent (75%) or higher but gets a rating below sixty percent (60%) in any given subject must take the examination again, but only in the subject or subjects where he or she rated below sixty percent (60%).

I didn't pass the Philippine nursing board after two takes. Can I still work abroad?
You should be a license holder in your country of origin to qualify for an NCLEX examination. Since only 40% of foreign educated nurses pass NCLEX® on first exam and repeat takers, only 16%, you are not likely to pass NCLEX® if you are unable to pass licensure exam in your home country.

Can I take the NCLEX without taking the Philippine nursing board exam?
You should contact the Board of Registered Nursing in the state in which you wish to become a Registered Nurse. States vary in practice, but most do not now require CGFNS.
In most states, you will probably be asked to submit a formal application for a license (which may include taking NCLEX-RN (CAT). This is a long procedure, but the only certain way that an evaluation of your training and education can be completed with accuracy.
Just contact the BRN of your choice of state - there are links from this web site's home page.
In any case it is recommended that you take the State Board examination in the state/country in which you graduate. You may find it simplifies issues as you progress thru your careers.
